How to Choose a New Bed in Chesterfield
Choosing a new bed can be a tricky job and as we spend around a third of our lives sleeping, it’s pretty important to get it right to ensure a good nights sleep, leaving you ready for the day ahead.
The first question most of our customers ask is price, which of course is a deciding factor, but it’s probably best to start with your requirements then look for that type of bed within your budget.
Who is the Bed For?
Firstly lets look at the practical side of things; is the bed for 1 or two adults or a child/children, is it going to be your main bed or a guest bed and very importantly, what space have you got available. It’s no good choosing a luxurious super king to find you only have room for a double!
Space/Bed Sizes
Bed sizes are as follows,
Small single 2’6″ x 6’3″ – 75 x 190cm
Single 3′ x 6’3″ – 90 x 190cm
Small double 4′ x 6’3″ – 120 x 190cm
Double 4’6″ x 6’3″ – 135 x 190cm
King-size 5′ x 6’6″ – 150 x 200cm
Super king-size 6′ x 6’6″ – 180 x 200cm
Allow room to walk around the bed and for bedside tables and any other furniture in your bedroom.
Storage
Some beds come with built in storage, ideal if your are short on space. Typically, divans and Ottoman beds can be supplied with storage.
Bed Types
Bed Frames are usually metal and wood and usually incorporate a head board and sometimes a foot board, they are also more decorative than a divan bed. Upholstered Bed Frames are also becoming popular now, clad in faux leather or fabric they make a statement piece for any bedroom.
A Divan Bed base can be pocket sprung for extra comfort or platform top which will give a firmer base for your mattress. Unless part of a package, a divan bed doesn’t usually include a headboard. They can also incorporate storage into the base in the form of drawers.
Children’s Beds, choose from a simple single bed, a novelty cabin bed or bunk beds. Many bunk beds can be used as two singles if required.
The Right Bed for You
There are no hard and fast rules on what type of bed to choose, it really is what suits you the best. A mattress should support your body comfortable with no pressure points. The best way to test this out is to simply lie on a few of our beds – that’s why we have a large number of different types of bed on show. Also if the bed is for two people, you will both need to lie on the bed, make sure you have enough room to move around and make sure you both find it comfortable. Take your time, lie back and relax for a while, we are not going to rush you into any decision, we are here to help you choose the right bed.
Once you have narrowed your choice down to a couple of options, now consider price and choose the bed in your budget. All of our beds offer excellent value for money and we can usually find the right bed for our customers at a sensible price. This may be a good time to buy new pillows to complete your new bed. We have a range of pillows in various materials.
Choice Made
After making your choice, leave us your details and a small deposit and we will order your bed and arrange delivery. Unfortunately due to strict regulations on removing old beds, we are not able to offer a bed removal service. However, your local Council will usually undertake this task for you a a nominal fee.
Once your new bed is in place, enjoy a restful nights sleep and wake refreshed ready to take on any challenge the day brings. Call in at either our Chesterfield Bed Shop or Staveley Bed shop to test out our beds!
